The
Archaeological Survey of India, Hyderabad Circle has celebrated the International
Museum Day on 18th May, 2018 at the premises of Archaeological
Museum, Kondapur. The occasion was
celebrated by way of organizing a meeting” at 10.30 AM at Museum premise. More
than one hundred students including teachers from local schools participated in
the meeting with great enthusiasm. Dr. D. N. Bhoi, Asstt. Superintending
Archaeologist, Archaeological Museum, Kondapur delivered welcome address to the
guests and highlighted the aims and objectives of the celebrations. Shri K.
Veerabhadra Rao, Superintending Archaeologist (Retd.) ASI was the chief Guest
on this grand occasion along with officers and officials of ASI, Hyderabad
Circle addressed to the audience focused on the aims and objectives of the
celebrations, the importance of the archaeological Museum, Kondapur. He encouraged
the youngsters by saying that the ancient monuments and antiquities are one of
the precious gifts passed on to us by our ancestors and thus it is our duty to
keep them protected and preserved for posterity through the museums. Dr. Milan
Kumar Chauley, Superintending Archaeologist, Hyderabad Circle, Hyderabad
presided over the function and emphasized the importance of the celebration and
enlightened the students about site museum and called for a national pledge to
save the cultural heritage for posterity. He expressed his views on the theme
chosen for International Museum Day, 2018 that “Hyperconnected Museums: New Approaches, New publics”. Shri A. Anil
Kumar Dy. Superintending Archaeologist also mentioned about the importance of
the International Museum Day. He also elaborated the history of the museum and
role of the site museum in the present-day Society. The students should visit
and to acquire knowledge through the museums.
Lastly, the programme was
followed by cleanliness drive as a part of Hon’ble
Prime Minister’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” inside the museum complex. The officers and
officials of ASI, Hyderabad Circle actively participated in the cleanliness drive and effectively contributed
to the cleanliness mission by joining hands in cleaning the surroundings of the museum
complex.
After the cleanliness drive
programme all the officials of ASI along with the chief guest assembled at the
site. The site was cleaned and various competitions were organized among the
officials and staff members i.e. Gunny bag jump, lemon and spoon race, Shot put
and Musical chairs etc. on this occasion. All the winners of the competitions awarded
with prizes. The chief guest was with us throughout the day till 6.30 PM.
The programme organized by ASI has
attracted the attention of local people and visitors and it has been highly
appreciated by them. The celebrations
were properly covered by local print and electronic media.
